Description

Discover the strange and unsettling world of Japanese folklore with this Kappa greeting card from the Ghosts, Ghouls and Spirits series. Ideal for Halloween greetings!

Kappa are amphibious ykai said to inhabit rivers and ponds. Easily recognised by the dish of water they carry on their heads, they are mischievous tricksters but can also be deadly, with tales warning of drownings and mischief turned fatal. Despite their fearsome reputation, Kappa are also known for keeping their word bowing to them causes the water to spill from their dish, robbing them of strength.

This artwork, inspired by traditional sumi-e ink painting, captures the eerie energy of the Kappa with bold lines and flowing detail. Printed on premium matte cardstock and left blank inside, the card makes a unique gift for collectors of Japanese mythology, folklore enthusiasts, or anyone drawn to the darker side of storytelling.
